MALAYSIA reported 42 Covid-19 deaths as of midnight, a decrease from the 78 fatalities a day before, the Health Ministry reported.
Data from the ministry’s Git.hub raw data repository showed all the deaths were backlog cases, meaning no deaths occurred yesterday.
Of the total, 10 were classified as dead-on-arrival cases.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported deaths on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after investigation.
With the new fatalities, the Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia stood at 28,354.
Sarawak continued to record the most deaths for five straight days with 17 fatalities.
Other states and territories that logged deaths linked to the virus were Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang and Penang (1), Negri Sembilan and Johor (2), Perak (3), Sabah (4), Kelantan and Selangor (5).
Putrajaya, Labuan, Perlis, Malacca and Kedah did not report any deaths.
Malaysia’s active cases continued to drop, to 77,305.
Of these, 620 patients were treated in intensive care units, 297 of them on ventilator support.
Meanwhile, 59,687 patients were in home quarantine, 10,807 in low-risk quarantine centres, and 6,191 were hospitalised.
Total recoveries number 2.32 million, 9,178, of which were reported yesterday. – October 24, 2021.
