297 Covid-19 patients requiring respiratory support, down from 322

MALAYSIA recorded a further dip in Covid-19 patients requiring breathing assistance, from 322 to 297 as of noon today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said. 

The country has been witnessing a decline in patients needing ventilator support over the past few days.

Noor Hisham said of the total, 229 tested positive for Covid-19 and the remaining 68 are suspected of being positive.

Meanwhile, he said ICU admissions also dropped from 653 to 620, and of the total, 553 are Covid-19 positive.

Noor Hisham also reported 9,178 recoveries, bringing the total number of cases discharged to 2.3 million

Of today’s 5,828 new cases, 5,731 were in categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic), while 97 were in the more severe categories of infections (3 to 5).

He also reported two new clusters of infection, of which both involved workplaces. 

Today’s clusters bring the total number of active clusters in the country to 557. – October 23, 2021.
