MALAYSIA logged 7,630 recoveries against 6,630 infections as of noon today, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
He said that since the onset of the epidemic, 2,311,213 recoveries have been recorded.
The country has been consistently reporting more recoveries than infections for more than a month.
Meanwhile, intensive care unit (ICU) admissions decreased by 24 patients as of noon.
There are currently 653 patients in ICUs, of which 521 tested positive for Covid-19 while 132 are suspected of being positive.
Of the total ICU admissions, there are 322 intubated patients, with 230 of them positive for Covid-19 and the rest are suspected of being positive.
Noor Hisham said from today’s fresh infections, a majority of them (6,529) were in categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic) while 101 were in the more severe infection categories.
The health DG also reported 12 new clusters. Six involved workplaces, three in an academic institution, two in the community and one in a religious centre.
The country has reported 5,717 clusters since the epidemic began, of which 580 are still active and 5,317 have ended. – October 22, 2021.
