Malaysia’s vaccination roll-out for teens among fastest in world

MALAYSIA is one of the countries with the fastest Covid-19 vaccination roll-outs for adolescents in the world, said Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

In less than two months, 80% of adolescents aged between 12 and 17 have received at least one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, he added.

Noor Azmi is the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force-Adolescent (CITF-A) chairman, while Mah was previously responsible for handling the vaccination for the group.

Based on Health Ministry data on the CovidNow portal, as of yesterday, 1.3 million (43.4%) adolescents aged 12 to 17 have completed their vaccination, and 2.5 million have received at least one dose of the vaccine since the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for the group launched on September 8.

As for the adult population, 22 million (94.3%) individuals have completed their vaccination as of yesterday, while 22.7 million have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

A total of 235,607 Covid-19 vaccine doses were dispensed yesterday, bringing the total number of doses administered under the programme to 48.6 million. – Bernama, October 22, 2021.
