Health Ministry reports 6,210 new Covid-19 cases yesterday

THE Health Ministry reported 6,210 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, with the nationwide caseload similarly rising by 6,118 cases to 89,337.

According to the statistics from the ministry’s GitHub raw data repository, the Klang Valley, which comprises Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya accounted for a combined 1,399 or 22.5% of the cases.

Selangor was the only state to log more than 1,000 daily cases as it reported 1,027 infections.

Sarawak and Sabah reported 725 and 651 cases respectively.

Other states and territories reporting new cases were Johor with 595 cases, Kelantan (540), Terengganu (485), Perak (384), Penang (381), Kuala Lumpur (343), Kedah (319), Pahang (294), Malacca (235), Negri Sembilan (167), Perlis (33), Putrajaya (29) and Labuan (2).

Of the active cases, 70,896 or 79.4% were in home quarantine, 11,581 (13%) were in low-risk quarantine centres and 6,194 (6.9%) were hospitalised.

A total of 666 patients were treated in the intensive care unit, of which 306 are on ventilator support. – October 22, 2021.
