MALAYSIA reported 96 Covid-19 deaths as of midnight, taking the death toll in the country to 28,234, the Health Ministry said.
According to the ministry’s GitHub raw data depository, at the time of reporting, only one death occurred yesterday, while the remaining 95 were backlog cases.
Meanwhile, 21 were declared dead on arrival (DOA), taking the death total in this category to 5,701.
The daily death figure is the sum total of the number of reported deaths on the day plus cases just confirmed by the health authorities to be due to Covid-19 after investigation.
Sarawak continued to report the most deaths for the third consecutive day, reporting 21 fatalities, compared to 16 and 12 deaths in the past two days.
Sabah and Perak reported 16 and 14 deaths respectively, with the latter recording the nation’s sole death within the past 24 hours.
Other states and territories reporting deaths were Kelantan (13), Selangor (12), Johor (8), Penang (6), Pahang and Terengganu (2 each), and Kedah and Perlis (1 each).
There were no coronavirus related death in Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan or Putrajaya. – October 22, 2021.
