7,562 Covid-19 recoveries against 6,210 new infections today

MALAYSIA logged 7,562 Covid-19 recoveries against 6,210 infections as of noon today, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The country has been consistently reporting more Covid-19 recoveries than infections for more than a month.

A total of 2,303,583 people has now recovered from Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said there are currently 677 patients in intensive care units (ICU).

Of the total, 501 are Covid-19 cases, while 176 are suspected and probable cases under investigation.

He said 319 patients require respiratory support, of which 114 are suspected and probable cases under investigation.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said a majority of today’s cases, or 6,094, belonged to categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic) while 116 were in the more severe categories of infections.

He also reported six new clusters of infection, of which two involved workplaces, three in the community and one in a high-risk group.

Today’s clusters bring the total number of active clusters in the country to 591. – October 21, 2021.
