9,401 Covid-19 recoveries today

Malaysia logged 9,401 Covid-19 recoveries today, raising the total of those who have recuperated to 2.3 million. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 20, 2021.

MALAYSIA logged 9,401 Covid-19 recoveries against 5,516 infections as of noon today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said. 

The country has been consistently reporting more Covid-19 recoveries than infections for more than a month. 

A total of 2.3 million people have now recovered from Covid-19. 

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said there were currently 669 patients in intensive care units. 

Of the total, 572 were Covid-19 cases, while 97 were suspected and probable cases under investigation. 

He said 333 patients required respiratory support, with 92 suspected and probable cases under investigation. 

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said a majority of today’s cases, or 5,414, belonged to categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic) while 102 were in the more severe categories of infections. 

He also reported four new clusters of infection, of which three involved workplaces and one in an academic institution.

Today’s clusters bring the total number of active clusters in the country to 614. – October 20, 2021.
