Selangor only state to log more than 1,000 Covid-19 cases

SELANGOR was the only state to report more than 1,000 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, according to the Health Ministry’s data from the Git.hub raw data repository. 

The most populous state in Malaysia logged 1,036 infections yesterday, topping the daily Covid-19 tally.

This was followed by Johor with 732 cases and Sarawak with 730. 

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases yesterday were Kedah (370), Kelantan (572), Malacca (206), Negri Sembilan (214), Pahang (305), Perak (461), Perlis (51), Penang (438), Sabah (504), Terengganu (319), Putrajaya (22), Kuala Lumpur (182) and Labuan (3). 

Cumulatively, Malaysia reported 6,145 new cases yesterday, of which 12 were imported.

Active cases continued on a downtrend, dipping to 92,246 from 97,505 on Saturday. 

Of this number, 688 patients were treated at intensive care units, with 348 of them under ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 70,849 patients were under home quarantine, 13,799 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres while 6,910 were hospitalised. 

Recoveries outnumbered new cases as 9,731 people recuperated from the coronavirus. With this, the cumulative total of recoveries now stands at 2.26 million. – October 18, 2021.
