A TOTAL of 22,146,626 people or 67.8% of the general population in Malaysia have now been fully inoculated under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP), the Health Ministry reported.

According to the ministry’s CovidNow website, a total of 128,347 doses of vaccine were administered yesterday, including booster shots.

In providing the breakdown, the ministry said 15,421 people got their first dose, while 109,745 people completed their full vaccination schedule. A total of 3,181 booster shots were also dispensed.

Malaysia has now administered 46,761,751 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines since the programme began on February 24.

With the latest round of vaccination jabs given, about 24.71 million people or 75.7% of the population have now received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Meanwhile, about 1.73 million or 55.1% of adolescents in the age group between 12 and 17 have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 716,332 or 22.8% have been fully vaccinated.

As for the adults, 21.43 million individuals or 91.5% of grown-ups are now fully dosed.

The CovidNow tracker projects 80% of the general population to be fully vaccinated by December 17, which is 61 days away.

The Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate, with 83.5% of its general population and 112.6% of its adult population inoculated.

When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means that the changes in the population size have yet to be accounted for by the Statistics Department since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.

Sabah has the lowest vaccination rate. It is the only state to have vaccinated fewer than 70% of its adult population, at 67.5%. Only 50.8% of its general population have been inoculated. – October 17, 2021.
