Covid-19 caseload drops for 30 days in a row

MALAYSIA logged 9,531 Covid-19 recoveries against 7,509 infections as of noon today, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The country has been reporting a declining Covid-19 caseload for 30 consecutive days.

A total of 2.26 million people have now recovered from Covid-19. 

Noor Hisham said intensive care admissions have also dropped for the third day in a row with 695 patients, compared to 762 on Monday.

Of the total, 630 are Covid-19 cases, while 65 are suspected and probable cases under investigation. 

Patients on respiratory support have also decreased from 364 patients yesterday to 347 today. Of the total, 66 are suspected and probable cases under investigation. 

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said 7,393 of today’s cases were in categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic) while 116 were in the more severe categories of infections.

He also reported nine new clusters of infection, of which four involved workplaces, one in the community, three in an academic institution and one among a high-risk group.

Today’s clusters bring the total number of active clusters in the country to 702. – October 16, 2021.
