THE Kuala Lumpur High Court today agreed to return Rosmah Mansor her passport to travel to Singapore to be with her daughter, who is expected to give birth to her second child in the city state.

Rosmah was also barred from staying in the neighbouring country for more than a month.

Judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan made the decision following Rosmah’s application through her lawyers. Rosmah was not in court today.

“The applicant’s passport will be released today and must be returned before December 6.

“This is on the condition that the applicant can only travel to Singapore starting October 22 and must return to Malaysia on or before November 21,” Zaini said.

Rosmah, the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak, filed a motion on Tuesday asking for her passport to be returned so that she could be with their pregnant daughter Nooryana Najwa.

Nooryana resides in Singapore with her husband, Daniyar Kessikbayev, a Kazakhstan national.

In her application, Rosmah said Nooryana had a history of complications during delivery, and that she wanted to be with her daughter to provide mental and emotional support.

Rosmah’s lawyer Jagjit Singh had originally asked that his client be allowed to stay abroad until November 24.

Judge Zaini said that would not leave the applicant with enough time for post-travel quarantine before she had to return to the dock to stand trial for corruption on December 8.

“Taking the 14-day quarantine period into consideration, I think she should return by November 21 so that she would have a space of two or three days before the trial starts,” Zaini said.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohamad Mustafa P. Kunyalam said he did not object to the application provided the accused followed the timeline given by the judge and did not cause the trial to be delayed.

Rosmah will take the stand on October 21 before departing for Singapore the following day.

Rosmah, 69, faces a charge of soliciting RM187.5 million in bribes and two charges of receiving RM6.5 million graft from Jepak Holdings managing director Saidi Abang Samsudin through her former aide Rizal Mansor as inducement to help the company land an RM1.25 billion government contract for the integrated hybrid solar photovoltaic system project and maintenance and operation for 369 rural schools in Sarawak. – October 15, 2021.

  • Why our politicians or their spouse or their familiar have to go overseas to get the medical treatment?

Is this because our doctors are poorly trained?

Or our hospitals are poorly equipped?

How about the plain Abu, Ah Chan or Muthu who doesn't have any money to get overseas medical treatment?
