Malaysia edges towards 70% Covid vaccination rate

MALAYSIA inched closer to fully inoculating 70% of its population against the coronavirus after the administration of 206,418 vaccine doses yesterday.

The special committee on vaccine access said  21.9 million people, or 67.1% of the population, were fully dosed while 24.6 million, or 75.5% have received one dose.

It said 2.41 million children, or 76.7% of people aged 12 to 17, have received one shot while 551,972, or 17.5% have been fully vaccinated.

The country has vaccinated 95% of its adults.

The Health Ministry’s CovidNow website projects 80% of the population will be fully vaccinated by December 10.

More than 46.5 million doses of vaccines have been dispensed under the national vaccination programme since February. – October 15, 2021.
