Klang Valley records 1,777 new Covid-19 infections

THE Klang Valley accounted for 1,777 of the total 7,950 Covid-19 infections reported yesterday, according to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website.

Selangor reported 1,449 new infections, Kuala Lumpur (309) and Putrajaya (19).

Sarawak was the only other state to report more than 1,000 infections at 1,165.

Total cases stood at 2.36 million as of midnight.

Other states and federal territories that reported new cases yesterday were Johor (703), Kedah (489), Kelantan (958), Malacca (188), Negri Sembilan (167), Pahang (342), Perak (405), Perlis (32), Penang (474), Sabah (751) and Terengganu (499).

Labuan did not report any infections.

There were 106,047 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of last night. Of these, 722 patients were treated at intensive care units, with 380 of them placed under ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 82,634 patients were under home quarantine, 15,228 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres while 7,463 were hospitalised.

With 10,832 recuperating from the virus as of midnight, total recoveries now stand at 2,227,889. – October 14, 2021.
