LABUAN MP Rozman Isli will be charged with abuse of power in the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow morning.

Counsel Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali, who will be representing the Warisan lawmaker, confirmed with The Malaysian Insight that his client will be charged under Section 23(1) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act 2009.

He said the charge is believed to be linked to an alleged conspiracy involving a Labuan Port tender process in December 2019.

“He (Rozman) was asked (by MACC) to appear (at the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur) tomorrow. Prosecution will be conducted in accordance with Section 23(1) of the MACC Act.”

In 2019, Sabah MACC started an investigation into a Labuan Port tender award process after receiving a complaint from the Labuan Liberty Port Management Sdn Bhd.

Rozman was Umno’s Labuan MP in 2013 and 2018, before joining Warisan in October 2018.

He won the post of Labuan Warisan division chief uncontested on March 31, 2019.

MACC had earlier issued a media invitation announcing that an MP will be charged at 9am tomorrow, without naming the lawmaker. – October 13, 2021.
