THERE will be no dominant party to form the government after the 15th general election (GE15) as voting patterns will be similar to what was seen in the last general election, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamid said.

This, he said, was because there will be no political party stronger than Barisan Nasional (BN) to form the government.

“My guess is that after GE15, there will be no one dominant like BN to form the government.

“I am worried there will be the same pattern of voting as seen in GE14. This matter is quite dangerous,” he said during the programme Jawab, Saya Tanya on the NR Channel TV on Facebook.

Zahid said it is crucial that political flexibility among other parties be considered now to form a new government after GE15.

Commenting on the political situation, he said that flexibility among parties is crucial in the preparation for a new political way forward.

He said that Perak is an example of being the first state to start the concept of political flexibility.

“While there is cooperation, they (state government) did not put any restrictions on opposition assemblymen becoming exco members.

“In the confidence and supply agreement (CSA) the opposition assemblymen were given the same allocation as government assemblymen.

“And the confidence vote done by Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad had 100% political cooperation.”

Zahid said this when asked about the political resilience agenda in the world of new politics today.

The matter was raised as there was dissatisfaction among party members following the government’s cooperation with the opposition, especially with Pakatan Harapan president Anwar Ibrahim and DAP.

Last August, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob signed a CSA with the opposition.

Zahid also said he will not use the issue of CSA in selecting candidates for the next election.

“I will not use this issue (CSA) for the purpose of revenge.

“I will sit with Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan and the prime minister to choose the GE15 candidates,” he said. – October 13, 2021.
