103 new Covid-19 deaths, none from yesterday

THERE were 103 Covid-19 deaths as of midnight, all of which were backlog cases, the Health Ministry reported.

According to data from the ministry’s Git.hub raw data repository, 26 of the reported cases were pronounced dead on arrival.

The ministry derives the daily figure from the sum total of reported deaths on a given day, including backlog cases only just confirmed by health authorities after completing their clinical investigations.

With the new fatalities, the cumulative Covid-19 death toll in Malaysia is 27,525.

Sarawak recorded 26 deaths, the highest number by state, followed by Johor with 15.

Other states and federal territories recording deaths were Sabah and Selangor (13), Kelantan (11), Perak (9), Penang (7), Kedah (6) as well as Negri Sembilan, Perlis and Kuala Lumpur (1 each).

No deaths was reported in Malacca, Terengganu, Labuan and Putrajaya.

There were 108,997 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of last night. Of these, 722 patients were treated at intensive care units, with 386 of them requiring ventilator support.

Meanwhile, 85,383 patients were under home quarantine, 15,387 admitted to low-risk quarantine centres while 7,505 were hospitalised.

With 10,555 recuperating from the virus as of midnight, total recoveries now stand at 2,217,057. – October 13, 2021.
