Covid-19 recoveries outpace new infections for 26th day running

MALAYSIA recorded 10,555 Covid-19 recoveries against 7,276 infections as of noon today, Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The country has been consistently reporting more Covid-19 recoveries than infections for 26 consecutive days.

A total of 2,217,057 people has now recovered from Covid-19.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said ICU admission also dipped from 762 yesterday to 724, and of the total, 683 are Covid-19 cases, while 41 are suspected and probable cases under investigation.

He said 398 patients required respiratory support, of which 101 are suspected and probable cases under investigation.

The majority of today’s cases, or 7,126, are from categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic) while 150 are in the more severe categories of infection.

Noor Hisham also reported 14 new clusters, bringing the total number of active ones in the country to 783. – October 12, 2021.
