Sarawak only state reporting more than 1,000 fresh Covid-19 infections

SARAWAK accounted for 1,032 of the total 6,709 Covid-19 infections reported yesterday, according to the Ministry of Health’s CovidNow website.

Figures showed that Selangor saw a significant decrease in recorded cases, with just 671 new infections after it logged 1,015 infections on Sunday.

The number of Covid-19 cases stood at 2,346,303 as of midnight.

Other states and federal territories reporting new cases yesterday were Johor with 777 cases, Sabah (532), Perak (414), Terengganu (480), Kelantan (938), Pahang (426), Penang (441), Kedah (357), Malacca (188), Negri Sembilan (163), Kuala Lumpur (220), Putrajaya (36), Perlis (29).

Labuan is the only state to report no new infections.

There were 112,379 active Covid-19 cases in Malaysia as of last night.

Of these, 756 patients were treated in intensive care units with 397 of them requiring a ventilator.

Meanwhile, 88,645 patients were in home quarantine, 15,356 were admitted to low-risk quarantine centres, while 7,622 were in hospitalised.

Recoveries again outnumbered new cases as 10,833 people recovered from the coronavirus. Some 2,206,502 people have now recovered from Covid-19. – October 12, 2021.
