MALAYSIA is starting to see signs of improvement as Covid-19 recoveries outpaced new cases for the 25th day running, with 10,833 people recuperating from the coronavirus, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The new recoveries were reported against 6,709 new infections, which is the lowest daily count in more than three months.

With this, the cumulative total of recoveries now stood at 2,206,502 while the national caseload was at 2,346,303.

As of noon today, there were 762 patients at intensive care units in hospitals nationwide, with 702 confirmed for Covid-19. Another 60 patients were suspected of having contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, 398 patients are currently under ventilator support.

Noor Hisham also reported nine new clusters of infection, which brings the total number of active clusters in the country to 794.

A majority of today’s cases or 6,565 belonged to categories 1 (asymptomatic) and 2 (mildly symptomatic) while 144 were in the more severe categories of infections. – October 11, 2021.
