PARTI Kuasa Rakyat (Kuasa) may not have to worry about its registration getting approved by the Registrar of Societies (RoS), its pro-tem president Kamarazaman Yaakob said.

He explained that his party’s situation was very different to that of Malaysian United Democratic Alliance’s (Muda) – a party led by ex-youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman – which is yet to get RoS’ approval.

“Muda is fighting for its registration but, for us, we have reached an understanding with a political body to change its name, including its leadership. I do not have to disclose the name of the party here.”

“We will… change the name of the old party to the new one and… form (a) new leadership. We do not need to register to form a new party, unlike Muda,” he said.

In August, Muda confirmed that the Home Ministry rejected its appeal to be registered as a political party.

In a statement, Muda’s deputy president Lim Wei Jiet questioned the timing of the decision by Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin.

According to Muda, the letter signed by Hamzah stated that Muda’s appeal to be registered had been rejected in accordance with his power as the home minister under Section 18 of the Societies Act 1966 (Act 355).

Kamarazaman is the elder brother of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He launched the new party in Kuala Lumpur today vowing to struggle for the poor.

According to Kamarazaman, known as Bung Zaman by many, the party would also be open to all races.

Other pro-tem committee members of the party are former Padang Serai MP N. Gobalakrishnan, G25 member Nik Abud Aziz Nik Hassan, Gabriel Walter, Mohamad Nasir Saludin, Hamzah Jaaffar, Anas Yusof Sulaiman, Sahandri Gani Hamzah, Helmi Ibrahim, Razali Abd Razak, Suharmili Rosle and Ching Eu Boon. – October 10, 2021.

  • Off course no trouble in registration since you have publicly declared your party going to support BN and UMNO
