VACCINATED Malaysians are free to travel overseas starting tomorrow, said Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“This means that they don’t have to apply for MyTravelPass from the Immigration Department anymore,” he said in a special press conference today.

“However, returning Malaysians will still be required to go into quarantine when they return.”

This relaxation of travel restrictions comes after 90% of the adult population has been vaccinated, he added.

Ismail said that Malaysians can travel to any country.

“However, we haven’t opened our country yet for overseas arrivals or foreign tourists (unless for business or emergencies).

“We are still studying the effects of reopening our country’s borders for tourism,” the prime minister said.

The government decided to lift domestic and international travel for Malaysians today after 90% of the adult population has been vaccinated.

“According to the Ministry of Health, vaccination has reduced ICU admissions by 83% and the death rate by 88%. This shows that it works and I urge those who have yet to be vaccinated to do so,” Ismail said. – October 10, 2021.

  • Does that mean a Malaysian in Malaysia can travel abroad but has to quarantine on returning to Malaysia?
