Health Ministry reports 8,743 Covid-19 cases yesterday

THE Health Ministry reported 8,743 new Covid-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total number of cases nationwide to 2,332,221.

According to the ministry’s GitHUb raw data repository, Selangor registered the highest number of cases by state for the second consecutive day with 1,351 new infections.

Sarawak reported 1,126 cases and Kelantan 940 new infections.

The Klang Valley – comprising Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (288) and Putrajaya (23) – accounted for 1,662 infections or 19% of the total cases reported today.

Other states and territories reporting new cases were Johor with 859 cases, Sabah (761), Perak (724), Terengganu (590), Pahang (553), Penang (537), Kedah (437), Malacca (289), Negri Sembilan (198), Perlis (66) and Labuan (one).

Selangor has now reported 689,317 cumulative cases, followed by Sarawak with 223,507 cases and Sabah with 204,954 infections.

Meanwhile, Malaysia also reported 14,422 recoveries yesterday, lowering the active caseload to 120,246.

Sarawak reported 22,826 active cases, followed by Selangor (16,168) and Johor (15,021).

The Klang Valley has a combined 19,890 active cases. – October 10, 2021.
