8,743 new Covid-19 cases; MOH to release data only on CovidNow site

MALAYSIA reported 8,743 new Covid-19 cases as of noon today, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, its lowest in the past four days.

The national caseload now stands at 2,332,221, including the infections today.

Noor Hisham did not elaborate on the breakdown of cases by states in his update today, but said details can be obtained on the CovidNow website.

A check with the Health Ministry (MOH) confirmed that the information will be uploaded onto the website, with an official saying that this will be the practice moving forward.

“Work to upload daily data into CovidNow will start after midnight. Usually, it is available for view after 2am,” said the ministry official.

“As mentioned before by the (health) minister and DG, we will move slowly towards this.”

However, no exact timeline was given on the transition period.

MOH has already moved to report the number of active cases, deaths and vaccinations on its CovidNow website. – October 9, 2021.
