UMNO has handed over official letters to revoke the party membership of two former Malacca state assemblymen who withdrew support for Chief Minister Sulaiman Md Ali, party secretary-general Ahmad Maslan said.

He said the letters were handed to Tangga Batu Umno chief Mohamad Ali Mohamad on Tuesday and received by the two assemblymen, who were also previously Umno members of the division, yesterday.

They are former Sg Udang assemblyman Idris Haron and former Pantai Kundor assemblyman Nor Azman Hassan.

“According to two clauses in the Umno constitution, both of them have lost their party membership,” he told a press conference at the Parliament Building today.

The Malacca legislative assembly was dissolved on Monday after four assemblymen, namely Idris and Nor Azman, Norhizam Hassan Baktee (Pengkalan Batu-independent) and Noor Effandi Ahmad (Telok Mas-Bersatu), withdrew support for Sulaiman.

Following that, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Umno assemblymen who betrayed the Barisan Nasional-led state government will be sacked. – Bernama, October 7, 2021.
