2.9 million Covid-19 vaccine doses donated to Malaysia, deputy minister says

MALAYSIA has received donations of 2,913,750 Covid-19 vaccine doses from the United States, Japan, the United Kingdom and China so far.

Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Ahmad Amzad Hashim said the US donated 1,000,350 doses of Pfizer vaccine, Japan (998,400 doses of AstraZeneca), UK (415,000 doses of AstraZeneca), and China (500,000 doses of Sinovac).

“For all these donations, we are bound by the agreement that bans the sale of any of these vaccines, which are meant for free vaccinations for Malaysians,” he said during a question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat today.

He was replying to a supplementary question by Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (Kuala Krai-PAS) who asked about the total number of vaccines donated by foreign governments. – Bernama, October 6, 2021.
