Health Ministry reports 867 cases in ICU

THE number of patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) continue to decline with 867 cases requiring critical care in the last 24 hours, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 835 cases in the ICU, while there were 888 cases on Saturday.

Noor Hisham said  out of today’s total, 807 were confirmed Covid-19 cases, while 60 were suspected cases and cases under investigation.

He also said there were 461 patients requiring respiratory assistance.

Similarly, 342 of these patients were confirmed Covid-19 cases, while 119 were believed to have contracted the virus or cases under investigation.  

Meanwhile, there were 15,456 recoveries recorded, bringing the total to 2,116,021 cases. 

Some 7,915 of today’s cases were in category 1 (asymptomatic) or category 2 (mild symptoms).

In the more serious stages of infection, 160 cases were in categories 3, 4, or 5.

There were 15 new clusters reported today, of which seven were detected in the workplace, six involved community infection, one in the high-risk group and one from the education sector. – October 4, 2021.
