WITH 87.2% or 20.41 million adults fully vaccinated against Covid-19, Malaysia is just 3% short of the 90% vaccination target before interstate travel is allowed.

According to the Health Ministry’s (MoH) CovidNow website, 211,517 vaccine doses have been administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme yesterday, of which 89,695 are first doses and 121,822, second doses.

A total of 44,145,505 doses have been administered under the programme since it started on February 24.

The data also shows that 94.3% of the adult population and 72.7% of the general population have received at least one shot of the vaccine.

The CovidNow website tracker projects that 100% of the adult population will be fully vaccinated by October 26.

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said interstate travel will be allowed when 90% of the adult population in the country are fully vaccinated.

MoH said 50% or 1.57 million adolescents have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 3% or 92,949 are fully vaccinated.

Adolescents aged 12 to 17 are currently being administered with the Pfizer and Sinovac vaccines.

The Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate, with 81.6% of its general population and 111.4% of its adult population inoculated.

When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means that the changes in the population size are yet to be accounted for by the Statistics Department since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.

Sabah has the lowest vaccination rate. It is the only state to have vaccinated less than 70% of its adult population, at 61.3%. Only 43.4% of its general population are inoculated. – October 3, 2021.
