MALAYSIA reported new daily Covid-19 infections in the range of 10,000 for the second time within a week with 10,915 fresh cases logged today, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
On Monday, 10,959 cases were reported. However, today’s number of cases would be the lowest since July 18 when it reported 10,710 cases.
Sarawak continued to top the daily case chart for the ninth consecutive day, reporting 2,121 new cases. It is the only state to log cases in the 2,000 range.
Coming in next was Selangor with 1,386 new infections, while Kelantan was third with 1,288 cases.
The only other state besides Sarawak, Selangor and Kelantan to report cases in four figures is Johor with 1,124 cases.
The Klang Valley, which comprises Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (171) and Putrajaya (26), reported a combined 1,583 cases or 14.5% of the total cases today.
Other states and territories reporting new cases were Perak with 862 cases, Terengganu (818), Sabah (784), Penang (768), Kedah (574), Pahang (504), Malacca (216), Negri Sembilan (211), Perlis (58) and Labuan (four).
On overall Covid-19 case count in the country, Selangor leads with 680,616 cases, followed by Sarawak (214,518) and Sabah (199,629).
Meanwhile, the Health Ministry said that some 20.31 million or 86.8% of adults in the country are now fully inoculated against Covid-19.
Yesterday, a total of 237,245 doses of vaccines were administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme. The ministry said 103,021 were first jabs and 134,224, second jabs.
A total of 43,933,988 doses of vaccine have been dispensed since the start of the programme on February 24. – October 2, 2021.
