COVID-19 cases in Malaysia are on a slight uptrend for a third day with 12,735 fresh infections as of noon today, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
On Monday, Malaysia reported 10,959 cases, the lowest since July 12, but the figure crept up to 12,434 yesterday.
Today’s latest figure brings the country’s cumulative caseload to 2,245,695.
Sarawak remains the state or territory reporting the most daily cases (2,487), the only one with more than 2,000 infections.
Selangor is second on the list with 1,940 new cases, followed by Johor with 1,241 cases.
Selangor’s infections are higher since the state reported 979 infections on Monday, its lowest figure since May 4.
Kedah and Kelantan are the only other states to report cases in four digits today, logging 1,033 and 1,232 cases respectively.
The Klang Valley, which comprises Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (258) and Putrajaya (28), accounted for 2,226 infections of the total cases today.
Other states reporting new cases are Perak with 913, Sabah (993), Penang (763), Pahang (697), Terengganu (726), Malacca (194), Negri Sembilan (132), Perlis (97) and Labuan (1).
Earlier today, the Health Ministry reported that 19,912,566 people – or 85.1% of the adult population – are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
As many as 20,093,678 million individuals, or 61.5% of the general population and 85.7% of the adult population in Malaysia, have been fully vaccinated. – September 30, 2021.
