AS many as 20,093,678 million people, or 61.5% of the general population and 85.7% of the adult population in Malaysia, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the special committee for ensuring access to Covid-19 vaccine supply.
The committee said 94.1% of the adult population and 71.5% of the general population have received at least one vaccine shot.
Meanwhile, as many as 1.3 million adolescents or 43% have received one dose of the vaccine as of yesterday, while 40,206 or 1.3% have been fully vaccinated.
Using the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website tracker, it projects to get 100% of the adult population fully vaccinated by October 26.
The Klang Valley now has the highest proportion of vaccinations with 81% of its general population and 115.3% of its adult population inoculated.
Sabah has the lowest vaccination coverage. It is the only state to have vaccinated less than 60% of the adult population.
Only 59.9% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated in Sabah, with its total population vaccinated at just 42.4%.
Meanwhile, 43.36 million doses of vaccine have been administered under the national Covid-19 immunisation programme with 338,661 doses dispensed yesterday.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the committee is working towards covering the remaining 20% of the adult population who have yet to or have refused to be vaccinated. – September 30, 2021.
