Active Covid cases drop by more than 4,500

MALAYSIA reported 17,000 recoveries against 12,434 new cases as of noon today, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Some 2,037,099 people have now recovered from Covid-19.

Noor Hisham said 12,227 of the 12,434 new cases were in Categories of 1 and 2, displaying no to mild symptoms. Only 207 – or 1.7% – of cases were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.

Noor Hisham said the number of patients treated in the intensive care units (ICU) dropped from 986 yesterday to 979 today.

Of this number, 871 were confirmed Covid-19 cases while the remaining 108 were suspected cases and cases under investigation.

He said 565 patients required respiratory support, of which 387 were confirmed coronavirus cases while the other 187 were suspected or probable, and cases under investigation.

Noor Hisham said that the Health Ministry traced 15 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, which contributed to 351 cases.

He said nine clusters were linked to workplaces (198 cases) and six were community transmissions (153 cases).

Kelantan six clusters today, four community transmissions and two traced to the workplace.

Johor reported four clusters, while Pahang reported two, and Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah one each.

The 15 new clusters bring the total number of clusters in the country to 5,462, of which 1,124 are still active. – September 29, 2021.
