A TOTAL of 19,912,566 people or 85.1% of the adult population in the country are now fully vaccinated against Covid-19, the Health Ministry said.

Yesterday, 329,722 vaccine doses were administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, where 168,734 were the first dose and 160,988 people received their second jab.

A total of 43,028,919 vaccine doses have been administered since the programme started on February 24.

Using the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website tracker, it projects to get 100% of the adult population fully vaccinated by October 26.

According to the website, the country has fully vaccinated 61.1% of the general population, which includes 33,050 children, or 1.1% of the population aged 12 to 17.

The two-dose Pfizer vaccine is administered for this group on a programme that commenced September 8.

About 23.17 million people have received at least one shot of the two-dose vaccine, which translates into 94% of the adult population and 71% of the general population.

Overall, the Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate, at 80.7% of its general population, while 110.2% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated.

When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means the changes in the population size are yet to be accounted for by the statistics department since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.

Sabah has the lowest vaccination rate, at 42.1% of the total population, with 59.5% of the adult population vaccinated. It is the only state that has not crossed the 60% vaccinated mark for adults. – September 29, 2021.
