POLITICAL cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Alhaque, better known as Zunar, has lodged a police report against supporters of Umno and PAS, whom he accuses of stealing and forging his work.

As the sole copyright holder for his cartoons, Zunar said these activities were carried out by supporters of both parties in their WhatsApp groups.

“In the report, I named the individual with the digital name Fairosmohamme, as well as five admins of the WhatsApp group UmnoPas Jom Ranapkan PH as parties responsible for stealing and forging my cartoons.

“I have given details of their mobile numbers to the police. Hence, I want the police to investigate and take action against them,” he said in a statement today after lodging the report at Brickfields police station in Kuala Lumpur.

He thanked all those who provided the information to him, which led him to go to the police.

Zunar said that he is also looking into filing a civil suit against them for copyright infringement under the Malaysian Copyright Act 1987. – September 28, 2021.
