MALAYSIA yesterday edged closer to 85% of its adult population fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
According to data on the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, 19.7 million adults, 84.4% of grown-ups, are fully inoculated as of yesterday.
Meanwhile, the country has fully vaccinated 30,886 children, or 1% of population aged 12 to 17. About a million of them have received a first dose.
The two-dose Pfizer vaccine is administered for this group on a programme that commenced September 8.
In total, 60.6% of the general population are now fully vaccinated.
Yesterday, 323,335 doses of vaccine were administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, of which 172,388 were first shots and 150,947, second doses.
A total of 42,699,197 doses of vaccines have administered since the programme kicked off on February 24.
The Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate at 80.4% of its general population while 109.8% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated.
When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means the changes in the population size are yet to be accounted for by the Statistics Department since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.
Sabah has the lowest vaccination rate where only 41.8% of the total population and 59.1% of the adult population are vaccinated. It is the only state that has not crossed the 60% vaccinated mark for adults. – September 28, 2021.
