A TOTAL of 19,633,681 million people or 60.1% of the general population in the country was fully vaccinated against Covid-19 as of yesterday, the Health Ministry said.

Based on the ministry’s CovidNow website, the total figure includes 19,604,699 adults and 28,982 adolescents aged 12-17.

Meanwhile, 22.83 million people have received at least one shot of the two-dose vaccine, which translates to 93.7% of the adult population and 69.9 % of the general population.

A total of 269,465 doses of Covid-19 vaccines were administered yesterday under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP), where 117,196 were first jabs and 152,269 people received their second shot.

A total of 42,375,862 doses of vaccine has been administered since the NIP started on February 24.

The Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate at 80.2% of its general population and 109.4% of the adult population having been fully vaccinated.

When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means that the changes in the population size is yet to be accounted for by the Department of Statistics since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.

Sabah has the lowest vaccination rate where only 41.5% of the total population and 58.7% of the adult population are vaccinated.

Meanwhile, 28.2% of adolescents aged 12-17 have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, while 0.9% have been fully vaccinated since the vaccination programme for the group began on September 8.
