MORE than 42 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered as of yesterday, seven months since the national immunisation programme began on February 24.
A total of 259,141 doses were administered under the programme yesterday.
The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) said 19.48 million people, or 83.1% of the adult population or 59.7% of the general population, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 22.71 million have received at least one shot of the double dose vaccine. This is equivalent to 93.7% of the adult population and 69.6 % of the general population.
The Klang Valley has the highest vaccination rate at 79.9% of its general population and 109.1% of its adults having completed their shots.
Sabah has the lowest vaccination coverage and is the only state to have vaccinated fewer than 60% of its adults.
Only 1.61 million of Sabah folk have been fully vaccinated. This translates to 58.3% of adults and 41.2% of the general population.
When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means that the changes in the population size, including undocumented residents, is yet to be accounted for by the Department of Statistics since the last census was taken.
Meanwhile, 25.2% of children aged 12 to 17 have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine while 0.9% have been fully vaccinated since the vaccination programme for the group began on September 8.
The two-dose Pfizer vaccine is administered for the group.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the JKJAV is also reaching out to the the remaining 20% of the adult population who are yet to be vaccinated or who refuse to be jabbed. – September 26, 2021.
