13,899 new Covid-19 cases, Sarawak remains at top spot

MALAYSIA recorded 13,899 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

The country has been reporting below 15,000 cases for most of the past week, except for September 21 when there were 15,759 new infections reported.

The lowest daily count in the past week was 13,754 on September 23. 

Noor Hisham said Sarawak continued to top the daily case chart with 2,712 new cases, followed by Selangor (2,341) and Johor (1,377).

There were also 1,170 cases recorded in Kelantan, 1,128 in Perak, 1,060 in Penang, 962 in Sabah, 779 in Pahang, 760 in Terengganu, 708 in Kedah, 339 in Malacca, 310 in Kuala Lumpur, 194 in Negri Sembilan, 37 in Putrajaya, 17 in Perlis and five in Labuan.

This brings the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases reported in the country as of noon today to 2,185,131.

As of yesterday, 19.34 million people or 59.2% of the general population, and 82.5% of the adult population in Malaysia, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. β€“ September 25, 2021.
