AS many as 19,336, 889 million people or 59.2% of the general population, and 82.5% of the adult population in Malaysia, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, according to the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV).
The committee said 21,903,061 million or 93.6% of the adult population, and 69.2% of the general population, have received at least one vaccine shot.
Meanwhile, 696,285 adolescents or 22.1% have received one dose of the vaccine as of yesterday, while 25,326 or 0.8% have been fully vaccinated.
The Klang Valley now has the highest proportion of vaccinations with 79.6% of its general population and 108.7% of its adult population inoculated.
When an area records a vaccination rate of more than 100%, it means that the changes in the population size is yet to be accounted for by the Department of Statistics since the last census was conducted. This also includes undocumented residents.
Sabah had the lowest vaccination coverage and is the only state to have vaccinated fewer than 60% of its adult population.
Only 57.8% of the adult population have been fully vaccinated in Sabah, with its total population vaccinated numbering just 40.9%.
Meanwhile, 41.84 million doses of vaccine have been administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme with 273,373 doses dispensed yesterday.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the committee is also working towards covering the remaining 20% of the adult population who have yet to or refuse to be vaccinated. – September 25, 2021.
