THE Education Ministry will provide counselling to parents who are not ready to get their children vaccinated against Covid-19, deputy minister Dr Mah Hang Soon said.

“A pupil has the right to study. There is no reason for us to refuse or not allow them to return to school to study,” he said in a joint press conference with Deputy Health Minister Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali.

“But we will conduct counselling especially for the parents.”

He said there could be a small number of parents who are not ready to have their children vaccinated.

“We will take the necessary measures to explain to them the need to be vaccinated for the safety of their children,” he said.

Mah said the ministry will also keep close tabs on the situation.

The vaccination programme for teenagers will begin tomorrow and is set to involve teenagers aged between 12 and 17. – September 22, 2021.
