1,117 cases in ICU, says Health DG

THERE are currently 1,117 Covid-19 cases in intensive care units, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

Of the total, 844 are confirmed Covid-19 cases while 273 are suspected cases and cases under investigation.

Dr Noor Hisham also said there are 635 patients requiring respiratory assistance.

Of these, 377 patients are confirmed Covid-19 cases, while 258 are believed to have contracted the virus or cases under investigation.

Meanwhile, there were 16,650 recoveries recorded against the 15,759 new infections today.

The vast majority or 15,471 of today’s new cases were in category 1 (asymptomatic) or category 2 (mild symptoms).

In the more serious stages of infection, 288 cases were in categories 3, 4, or 5.

There were 23 new clusters reported today, of which nine each were from workplaces and the community, three high-risk groups and two from the education sector. – Bernama, September 21, 2021.
