STARTING Wednesday, mosques in Perlis are allowed to fully open with strict adherence to the standard operating procedure for public health safety.
Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said only fully vaccinated people are allowed in the mosques.
“An individual is considered fully vaccinated 14 days after the second dose of Pfizer, Astrazeneca, dan Sinovac vaccines.
“Those who receive single-dose vaccines such as Johnson & Johnson and CanSino are considered fully inoculated 28 days after they have received the jab,” he said in a statement issued by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Custom Council (MAIPS) last night.
Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is MAIPS president, said surau and other public prayer places, remained closed unless special permission to open obtained from the state’s religious departments.
He said people who had travelled abroad would only be permitted in the mosques two weeks after their return.
He said the congregation must comply with the health and safety rules.
Apart from the obligatory prayers, other activities that are also allowed are funeral prayers, religious talks, marriage solemnisation (akad nikah), and distribution on food. – Bernama, September 19, 2021.
