Nearly 75% of adult population fully dosed against Covid-19

A TOTAL of 17,480,766 people or 74.7% of the adult population in the country have completed their Covid-19 vaccination under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, the Health Ministry said. 

According to data in the newly launched CovidNow website, 92.2% of the adult population have received at least one dose, including recipients of the CanSino single-dose vaccine.

The data showed 227,147 doses of vaccines were administered yesterday, of which 69,235 individuals received their first dose and 157,912 got their second dose. 

This brings the total number of vaccines administered in the country to 38,990,335.

Klang Valley topped the vaccination rate with 103.4% of its adult population having been fully inoculated.

The percentage exceeded 100% due to population statistics from the Department of Statistics not accounting for change in population size since the last census and undocumented residents.

Sabah has the lowest percentage of fully vaccinated at 51.2%. 

Meanwhile, as a whole, 66% of the country’s population (including adolescents aged 12-17) have had at least one dose and 53.5% are fully vaccinated.

Apart from this, the total number of vaccines administered by brand are Sinovac at 46.6%, followed by Pfizer (45.3%), AstraZeneca (8.0%) and CanSino (0.2%).

The national vaccination roll-out began on February 24 and the government expects to get 100% of the adult population fully vaccinated by October 29 this year. – September 14, 2021.
