16,073 new Covid-19 cases, lowest since August 2

DAILY Covid-19 cases in the country dropped to its lowest in more than a month after Malaysia reported 16,073 infections as of noon today, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said. 

The last time Malaysia reported fewer cases than today was on August 2 with 15,764. 

Sarawak continued to top the case chart for states with 3,522 new cases, while Johor was second with 2,030. Sarawak reported 5,291 infections yesterday. 

Meanwhile, Selangor reported 1,947 cases today, the lowest for the state in almost three months. 

The previous time Selangor reported fewer cases was on June 22 with 1,566 cases.

Selangor, the most populous state, went to top the daily case chart by state for 136 consecutive days from April 23 to September 5. 

The state has seen a reduction in new Covid-19 cases as the number of vaccinated in the Klang Valley reached 101.3% of the adult population. 

Other states reporting new cases were Sabah (1,649), Penang (1,243), Kedah (1,191), Perak (1,011), Pahang (878), Terengganu (704), Kuala Lumpur (398), Malacca (206), Negri Sembilan (156), Perlis (41), Putrajaya (16) and Labuan (11).

The Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said that as of yesterday 38,488,051 million vaccines have been administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme. 

The committee said a total of 17,177,911 individuals or 73.4% of the country’s adult population have completed their Covid-19 vaccination as of yesterday. – September 13, 2021.
