19,550 new Covid-19 cases

MALAYSIA today logged 19,550 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the national caseload to 1,960,500,  director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

According to Health Ministry statistics, Sarawak had the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours, recording 3,743 infections. 

The highest daily number of cases was followed by Selangor with 2,416 cases and Johor registering 2,282 cases.

Other states and federal territories that reported new Covid-19 cases today were Kuala Lumpur (555 cases), Kedah (1,390), Negri Sembilan (198), Penang (1,865), Kelantan (1,320), Perak (1,354), Malacca (490), Pahang (722), Terengganu (953), Putrajaya (23) and Perlis (73 cases).

Labuan had two cases.

Earlier today, the Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply said 90.5%, or 21,195,780 of the adult population, have received at least one shot of the vaccine. 

The committee also said that to date, 72%, or 16,856,812 of the adult population, have been fully inoculated. 

This brings the total number of shots dispensed since the start of the immunisation programme in February this year to 38,001,646.

In terms of total population, 51.6% have been fully vaccinated while 64.9% have received at least one shot. – September 11, 2021.
