A TOTAL of 6,919 of 19,733 new Covid-19 cases reported today were from the vaccinated population, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
According to Noor Hisham, only 98 patients were in category 3 (lung infection), category 4 (lung infection requiring oxygen) or category 5 (critical condition).
Noor Hisham said that the remaining 6,821 breakthrough infections were category 1 (asymptomatic) or category 2 (mild symptoms).
Meanwhile, the bulk of the cases today still involved unvaccinated people or those who have only received one jab.
Among the unvaccinated, 8,203 cases were in categories 1 and 2, while 224 cases were in categories 3 to 5.
For those who have had one dose of the vaccine, 4,280 cases were in categories 1 and 2, while 107 cases were in categories 3 to 5.
As a whole, 19,304 cases (97.8%) of the cases today were in categories 1 and 2, and 429 cases (2.2%) were from categories 3 to 5.
The Ministry of Health said of 1,900,467 cases, some 1,449,632 or 76.3% were not vaccinated, 284,456 or 15% involved those who had received one dose, and 166,379 or 8.7% were vaccinated.
Meanwhile, a total of 326,476 Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered yesterday, which means 16,299,881 people have been vaccinated. To date, 20,814,413 people, or 88.9% of the adult population, have received their first shot.
The special committee for Covid-19 vaccine access also said 134,307 people received their first dose yesterday, while 192,169 received their second jab.
At least 97.8% of the Klang Valley’s adult population has now been vaccinated, according to government figures, surpassing that of Labuan. – September 8, 2021.
