Sarawak logs 7 deaths, 8 new clusters today

Sarawak has recorded seven new Covid-19 deaths involving victims with comorbidities, as well as eight new clusters today. Five of the clusters are from workplaces. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, September 2, 2021.

SARAWAK has reported seven Covid-19 fatalities and eight new clusters today, including a 68-year-old woman from Serian and a 78-year-old woman from Song, who were declared dead-on-arrival at the Serian and Kapit hospitals respectively.

The other deaths include a 68 year-old man from Sri Aman, an 81-year-old woman from Kuching, a 77-year-old man from Kuching, a 41-year-old woman from Sibu, and 56-year-old woman from Miri.

All of the victims had comorbidities, according to the state disaster management committee.

The state also reported 2,992 new infections today, 99.8% of which are category 1 (no symptoms) or category 2 (mild symptoms) cases.

The disaster committee said there is one category 3 case (lung infection and requiring hospitalisation), two category 4 cases (lung infection requiring oxygen assistance), and three category 5 cases (lung infections requiring ventricular assisted breathing).

Of the eight new clusters reported today, five of them are workplace clusters. – September 2, 2021.
