WATER to 463 Klang Valley areas – cut off earlier this week after odour pollution was discovered at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station – has been restored, said Air Selangor.

In a statement, the utilities company said all affected areas in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Sepang, Putrajaya and Kuala Langat have been receiving clean water since 6am today.

On Tuesday, Air Selangor announced that 463 areas in the Klang Valley would be subject to water supply cuts after the Sg Semenyih water treatment plant was shut down due to pollution at the Jenderam Hilir raw water pump station that morning.

This was the first major water cut since November last year, when four water treatment plants in Selangor were shut down for another odour pollution problem.

That disruption affected 1.14 million account holders in 1,279 areas across Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.

Just a month prior to that incident, the Sg Semenyih and Bukit Tampoi water treatment plants were shut down due to river contamination. – September 2, 2021.
