22 new Covid-19 clusters contribute 714 positive cases

THE Health Ministry detected 22 new Covid-19 clusters in the country today where a total of 714 cases were reported, Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

The health director-general said of the 22 new clusters, 11 were linked to workplaces, eight were traced to the community, two detected at high-risk groups and one at a detention centre.

In giving the breakdown of the 714 cases, Noor Hisham said the 11 workplace clusters contributed 287 cases, the community infections added another 197 cases, the high-risk group had 45 cases and the sole detention centre cluster accounted for 185 cases.

He said Kelantan reported the most number of clusters today with six, followed by Johor with five and Selangor with four.

Pahang had three new clusters, Sabah recorded two, while Terengganu and Kedah had one each.

1. Paku Minyak Beku in Batu Pahat, Johor (15 cases)

2. Industry Parit Ju in Batu Pahat, Johor (11 cases)

3. Jalan Tanjung Laboh in Batu Pahat, Johor (11 cases)

4. Jalan Sawit Baru Enam in Kulai, Johor (9 cases)

5. Kawasan Perindustrian 11 in Kota Baru, Bachok and Pasir Mas, Kelantan (14 cases)

6. Jalan Pasar Pengkalan Chepa in Kota Baru, Kelantan (12 cases)

7. Ladang Renjok in Bentong, Pahang (56 cases)

8. Ladang Sri Telang in Lipis, Pahang (35 cases)

9. Industry Dua Batu 16 Setengah Rawang in Gombak, Selangor (56 cases)

10. Industry Meranti Jaya 10 in Sepang, Selangor (13 cases)

11. Sawit Jeroco In Lahad Datu, Sabah (55 cases)

Noor Hisham said the additions today brought the total number of clusters in the country to 4,731, of which 1,475 are active and 3,256 have ended. – August 31, 2021.
