Covid-19 ICU numbers drop to 982

THERE were 982 Covid-19 patients in critical care, while there were 339 deaths in the past 24 hours, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

According to Noor Hisham, there were eight fewer patients in ICUs than yesterday and 470 people were on respiratory support, 17 fewer than yesterday’s count of 487.

The latest death toll also took the overall tally to 15,550.

However, the number of active Covid-19 cases nationwide also dropped slightly, despite 22,070 new cases reported against 21,877 recoveries.

The active cases now stand at 265,695, down from 265,841 cases yesterday. – August 27, 2021.

Noor Hisham said that 50 of the reported dead today were foreign nationals, adding that 261 of 339 victims had underlying medical conditions.

Noor Hisham said that there were 103 fatalities reported in Selangor, 41 in Sabah, 40 in Kuala Lumpur, 38 in Penang, 37 in Johor, 20 in Kedah, 15 in Perak, 13 in Negri Sembilan, eight each in Kelantan and Pahang, six in Malacca, five in Terengganu, three in Sarawak and two in Perlis.

Meanwhile, he said there were 99 cases pronounced dead-on-arrival, one fewer than yesterday.

Of the DOA cases, 74 were Malaysians and 25 were foreign nationals. – August 27, 2021.
